Bradley Manning lawyer complains of detention conditions

Bradley Manning, who provided Wikileaks with video footage of a 2007 Helicopter attack in Baghdad that killed two Reuters journalists and a number of innocent civilians, was placed on suicide watch for two days this week.
Manning has been held in detention without charge since June last year for allegedly downloading classified military documents while he was stationed in Iraq as a low-level (security-cleared) intelligence analyst. He is suspected of having provided Wikileaks with hundreds of thousands of secret diplomatic cables which have caused widespread publicity in recent weeks.
Manning’s attorney, David Coombs on Saturday revealed he has filed an Article 138 complaint with the Quantico Marine Corps base command, where Manning is being held, alleging that the commanding officer of the brig abused his discretion by placing the suspected whistleblower on suicide watch for two days this week.
“The suicide risk assignment meant that PFC Manning was required to remain in his cell for 24 hours a day,” Manning's lawyer wrote on his blog posted on Saturday. “He was stripped of all clothing with the exception of his underwear. His prescription eyeglasses were taken away from him.
